A practical guide for drywall and solid wall installation, with special instructions for drywall mounting using Petomg metal toggle bolts.

Before You Start
The most important part of installation is choosing the correct mounting method for your wall type. Before drilling, confirm the wall structure, prepare the right tools, and plan the exact mounting positions.
Confirm the wall type
Identify whether your wall is drywall with a hollow cavity or a solid wall such as brick or concrete.
Use all pre-drilled holes
Every Petomg mounting hole is part of the tested structure. Never skip, omit, or reduce the number of screws.
Prepare your tools
Recommended tools include a power drill, level, tape measure, pencil, and screwdriver or electric driver.
Important: Petomg mounting positions have been carefully tested for structural performance. Do not install with fewer screws. Do not ignore any pre-drilled hole. Do not change the mounting pattern.

Drywall vs Solid Wall
These two wall types require different hardware and different installation logic. Drywall needs anchoring inside the cavity, while solid walls rely on drilled holes with wall plugs or masonry anchors.
Drywall
Hollow cavity wall structure
Drywall does not provide enough holding strength for standard screws alone. It requires anchors that lock behind the wall.

- Mark and drill every mounting position
- For larger cats, use at least one stud connection when possible
Solid Wall
Brick or concrete structure
Solid walls provide a stronger base, but they must be drilled correctly and paired with suitable wall plugs or masonry anchors.

Drywall Installation Guide
For drywall installation, Petomg provides heavy-duty metal toggle bolts. These anchors expand behind the drywall and create a more secure hold inside the wall cavity.
Step 1
Position and mark
Hold the unit in place, level it, and mark every pre-drilled mounting hole.
Step 2
Drill the holes
Use a drill bit sized for the toggle bolts. The hole must allow the folded wings to pass through.
Step 3
Prepare the toggle bolts
Thread the metal toggle onto the screw and fold the wings inward before insertion.
Step 4
Insert into the wall
Push the folded toggle through the drywall. The wings will open behind the wall surface.
Step 5
Tighten securely
Pull the screw outward slightly and tighten until the unit sits firmly against the wall.
Drywall rules that must be followed
- Use all pre-drilled mounting holes
- Do not reduce the number of screws
- Do not use standard screws alone in drywall
- Make sure every screw is fully tightened
- Avoid damaged, soft, or deteriorating drywall

How to Find a Stud Quickly
Many drywall walls include wood studs behind the surface. Stud spacing is commonly around 16 in (about 40 cm) or 24 in (about 60 cm).
Method 1: Use a stud finder
This is the fastest and most reliable option. Scan the wall slowly and mark the stud positions before installation.
Method 2: Tap and listen
A more solid sound may indicate a stud. A hollow sound usually suggests an empty cavity behind the drywall.
Recommendation for larger cats
For larger cats, or for homes with multiple cats, we strongly recommend securing at least one mounting point into a stud whenever possible, while using metal toggle bolts for the remaining mounting holes.

Solid Wall Installation Guide
Solid walls such as brick or concrete provide a stronger mounting surface, but they require drilling and suitable wall plugs or masonry anchors.
Installation method
Drill the wall, insert wall plugs or masonry anchors, then secure the unit with screws.
General size reference
Wall plugs: 1.2–1.6 in (30–40 mm)
Screws: 1.6–2 in (40–50 mm)
Important notes
Avoid drilling into weak joints when possible, match the plug to the hole, and use every pre-drilled mounting hole.

Safety Notes
High-mounted units should always be installed with extra care and fully tightened hardware.
Homes with multiple cats or heavier cats may benefit from stronger structural support.
Check all screws periodically to ensure they remain tight during long-term use.
