Our Story

"Each of our products is designed in gratitude for the furry friends who spend their lives healing our world."💕

Petomg's story begins with Clover—a stray cat we adopted five years ago.

When Clover first came home, he was always on high alert, checking every corner repeatedly, approaching everything with caution. We thought that giving him plenty of food, toys, and a cat tree would make up for his days of wandering. We tried hard to make him feel what a "home" should be like, but we overlooked something: for a cat who had once been utterly alone, true security didn't just come from things—it came from trust and stability.

It wasn't until one day when Clover curled up in the corner, next to a collapsed cat tree. He wouldn't look at us, like a child who'd done something wrong, quietly waiting for scolding. Scattered on the floor were fragments of particleboard, along with the fragile sense of security he'd just begun to build. In that moment, we finally understood: what we thought was "good enough" was never truly safe. For Clover, what fell wasn't just a cat tree—it was the "home" he had finally dared to trust.

When we prepared to get Clover a new piece of furniture, we looked again at that colorful world of cat trees, but we didn't know where to start. There were so many choices, yet none felt truly reassuring. We knew that beneath those seemingly soft and vibrant fabrics were wood chips laden with glue and chemical treatments; those complex structures and exaggerated designs seemed made for cats on the surface, but really, they were just to appeal to human eyes. They were flashy but restless; ornate but distant. What we truly wanted to give Clover wasn't something "pleasing," but a corner where he could feel secure, stretch freely, and rely on without worry. So, I reached out to my brother Richard—a seasoned woodworker whose hands had crafted many of the durable, warm, and simple pieces in our home. When I told him Clover's story and shared my desire to create furniture that was truly safe, durable, and wouldn't disrupt the beauty of our home, he paused for a few seconds, then nodded. In that moment, the seed of Petomg quietly took root in our hearts.

We started thinking: if we were really going to build furniture just for Clover, where should we begin?

Not with shapes, not with colors, but with materials.

We pored over countless resources and handled various materials ourselves—until we encountered rubberwood.

It's a mid-to-high-end wood widely used in the furniture industry, but rarely in cat products due to its heavier weight and higher cost. Instead, people exploit cats' love for softness to mask synthetic woods full of glue and chemical treatments.

It's sturdy and substantial, with a warm, natural grain and a touch that carries a sense of "real stability."

More importantly, it's eco-friendly, sustainable, and durable, maintaining its dignity and solidity even after years of use.

This was exactly what we wanted—

A presence that could grow with the cat and blend into the home; understated, not cheap, solid and long-lasting.

We chose rubberwood as our raw material because it's solid, durable, with a warm feel and real weight, and it can integrate into modern home styles—just like the companionship we hoped Clover could feel: steady, honest, and enduring.

Richard handcrafted the first set without any paint or coatings,

Each board retaining its natural texture and color, protected only by simple eco-friendly wood wax oil.

It wasn't flashy, yet it fit unexpectedly well with our home.

The moment Clover stepped onto it, we saw him hesitate no more, no longer avoiding it.

He jumped up and down, circled around, and finally lay down on the top, stretching out his body—

That was the first time he fell asleep soundly in the daylight, under the sun.

In that moment, we truly understood: this wasn't just "cat furniture."

It was a bridge connecting cats and their families, a part of giving cats a real sense of belonging.

Later, when friends visited, they said, "You should make this available for more cats."

We hesitated a bit, but we were also tempted.

Not because we wanted to start a business, but because Clover had helped us uncover a overlooked world:

Cats, too, quietly endure the choices we make for "human aesthetics."

We began refining more designs, each one starting from the "cat's perspective" and the "home's perspective."

We're not aiming to be perfect designers, but we are companions to cats; we don't chase trends, but we believe that durable, sturdy furniture that doesn't disrupt the rhythm of life will gradually be noticed.

We never rush.

Petomg started with one cat, and it exists only for those who truly love cats and understand what home means.
